Here's the list on how to get all the unlockable characters your first time through the game. You will then go to that instead of the Buu Saga. To unlock the extra Trunks Story, beat the final Perfect Cell with Vegeta (Super Saiyan or Majin). Additional Cards and EXP are awarded with each victory. If you lose, you'll return to the Title Screen. If you win a battle, you will go back to the System Screen. Enemy characters are randomly selected for each battle. Arrange your characters and deck as you would in story mode. Selecting Battle Mode will bring up the System Screen. A variety of characters from the story are available for you to use in battle.

Once you save a game after clearing story mode, Battle Mode will become available. The trade will be complete when both players agree to this displayed selections. Trade Mode: This mode is for trading cards. Whoever defeats all of his or her opponent's characters wins. Once selected, you're taking to the System Screen where you can arrange your deck and characters. VS Mode: Allows you to battle against your friends/rivals. There are two mulitplayer modes: VS and Trade. After you're tenth story mode battle, you'll unlock mulitplayer mode at the MAIN menu. Ok, this isn't really a secret but I felt it worth mentioning here.
